This strong and dense wood is at a rank of 1070 on the Janka hardness scale, comparable to black cherry wood or ash wood, and is perfect for chopping boards as its durability is not affected by regular use. Though hardwood is typically difficult to cut and shape, mango wood is one of the softest hardwoods & is nice & light to manoeuvre around the kitchen or home. Mango wood grain can be either straight or interlocked/curly and looks great in its natural form though polishing the wood adds to its beauty. Heartwood is from the core of a mango tree wood is usually golden brown though it may also be yellow or have pink and/or black streaks. Each piece is handmade so variations will be seen between products. These characteristics add to the charm of the product making as each piece is unique. Handwash only. Do not soak or leave in direct sunlight to avoid splitting. Avoid placing hot items directly on the wood as it may scold or crack. Not recommended for use in the dishwasher.
